The Teahouse: Handcrafted Tradition and Quality by Vanport Since 1980.

A Showcase of Craftsmanship and Dedication to Japanese Quality

Since its inception in 1967, Vanport Manufacturing, Inc. has been committed to excellence in lumber processing and exporting, particularly for the Japanese market. This dedication to quality culminated in the construction of a Traditional Teahouse between 1980 and 1982, built next to our Boring office.

The Teahouse was created not only to showcase Vanport’s products but also to embody our commitment to traditional craftsmanship and quality. Every piece of lumber was meticulously selected, and each joint expertly crafted, resulting in a structure that exemplifies our unwavering dedication to excellence.

In the art of Japanese tradition, two expressions define quality. Atarimae Hinshitsu signifies the functional aspect, ensuring everything works as intended. Meanwhile, Miryokuteki Hinshitsu emphasizes the aesthetic appeal, creating a visual delight beyond functionality.

True to these principles, our Teahouse showcases the rich depth of color, fine grain texture, and flawless construction, marrying functionality with beauty seamlessly. Crafted with dedication and passion, it symbolizes our ongoing commitment to quality craftsmanship and customer satisfaction.

The Teahouse stands as a living testament to Vanport’s legacy. It not only showcases the products produced by our mills but also represents our dedication to the timeless pursuit of perfection. This structure, with its impeccable craftsmanship and design, serves as a constant reminder of the values and traditions that have guided Vanport since its founding.

Today, the Traditional Teahouse continues to inspire and reflect the high standards of Vanport Manufacturing, honoring our history while embodying our future aspirations.

Miryokuteki Hinshitsu

focuses on aesthetics, distinct from the functional aspect of Atarimae Hinshitsu. Miryokuteki quality embodies the visual allure of objects, such as the rich color depth, fine grain texture, and absence of defects in woodwork. It caters not only to practical needs but also to the innate desire for beauty, enriching the surroundings with inherently exquisite elements.
